I'm back! I sure did miss my students while I was out sick with strep throat this last week! Hopefully, we can all be healthy this week and get back on track. We do have a bit of catching up to do, and a four day week to do it in. If we do need more time on concepts I will make us some time, but we do have a lot to cover this next week or so in class.
WRITING
This week, we will be finishing up our super hero action stories. Students have had fun coming up with their own super hero and writing a story of heroism and action! We will edit our stories using rubrics and the skill of peer conferencing. Please come check out the bulletin board at the end of the week to see our finished products!
READING
In reading, we are in full force of Daily 5! Students are becoming independent readers, listeners, and learners. This week, we will focus our reading comprehension on the strategy of connecting to a text. We will learn about text to self, text to text, and text to world connections.
MATH
This week, we will continue to add to our addition strategies and will also start to look at subtraction strategies. We will be learning about multiple addends and how we can take a difficult problem and turn it into problems we know.
SCIENCE
Our study of matter continues! We will be learning about physical and chemical changes. We will be doing several neat experiments to show that a chemical change makes a new product and a physical change doesn't change the actual product, only how it looks.

There is no school on Monday, October 8th. I look forward to at Parent Conferences! I would love to meet in person with everyone about their child's progress so far this year!
