WRITING
Our potato heads are finished and they look great! Come by and see them on our new board!
This week we are popping into more sensory language. We will record every step of the Pop Rock experience with as much detail as possible. Similar to our bubble gum activity, we will describe using our five senses, similes, adjectives and sensory language. Our goal is to have a final paper with complete, detailed sentences that let's the reader know exactly how we felt during this process.
READING
This week we will venture into the realm of literal vs. non literal meaning of common cliches. We will use our inference skills to find the non literal meanings to everyday idioms.
Our grammar for this week will tie into our spelling unit on prefixes.
SPELLING
We will work on Prefixes (words that start with un-, re-, pre-, dis-). Your child will bring home one list on Monday. We will assess on Friday. Surprise words are back!
MATH
How much can an object hold? That's what we are figuring out this week! The capacity of an object will be determined using solids and liquids. We will also learn the proper measurements of how to make a gallon (cups, pints, quarts and gallons). To enhance our learning we will put our knowledge to some songs. Be looking for your child to be humming a new tune this week!
SCIENCE
We will assess on our plant knowledge at the beginning of the week. For the next few weeks our study will move away from plants and focus on animals. The focus this week will be on classifying and sorting the animals into groups (reptiles, birds, mammals, fish and insects). Our discussion will continue to the basic needs of all animals and if each group meets their needs the same way or differently.
